DiRPG | Morax by BiscuitAli

Next part of the quest will follow soon ID Just wanted to introduce my two ladies  Charoum & Dejana

Morax' legs were bleeding as he bursted off, the barking of the dogs ringing in his ears. There were too many. He hated to admit it but with more dogs approaching he just wasn't strong enough to fight them all off. And even though the thought of death didn't frighten him, he didn't really fancy dying today either. So he ran.

His hooves thundered over the dry ground of the plains and the sound soon drowned out the barking an snarling of the dogs that receded into the distance. Morax was breathing heavily and he knitted his eyebrows. His facial expression was hard. Angry. Hurt.

He slowed down to a trot and when he was sure that the dogs weren't following him he even slowed down to a fast walk. Silently cursing to himself he caught his breath, ready to continue his run when suddenly he saw two familiar silhouettes from afar. His immediate reaction was to lay his ears flat against his neck and let out an angry hiss, but at the scent turned out to smell less harsh and more feminine than expected, Morax' muscles relaxed. Slowly, he got closer.
One of the mares, a beautiful red one with a white pattern extending over her lower half, took a step forward and Morax could see her ears twitch. He stopped dead in his tracks and look at her for a while, not sure if he should start a conversation or wait for her to start one. Eventually, she gave in and with a slightly scared and unsure voice she said "Is this your land?".

Morax stood still, only his breathing sent some movement through his body. "No", he said. The mare let out something that resembled a relived sigh. She had probably been worried to have invaded his territory and be scared away. Now that it turned out that the stallion probably was just as lost as them, a slight smile showed up on her face. "So... are you alone?"
"Yes." Morax was unusually intrigued by those two creatures in front of him but he didn't exactly to know what to think of them just yet.
"How about you two?", he asked with a rough tone, "One would think mares like you would be part of a herd."

The red mare felt a rush of embarrassment flush through her body. Did he just compliment her? Or did he mean it in a bad way? She couldn't really get a clear picture of him as he seemed to change the tone in is voice quite frequently. There was something interesting about him, almost as if he was fighting an inner conflict with himself. As if he was broken. Through his rough voice she could only vaguely hear his good intentions, but she knew that they were there, somewhere, deep down inside of him.
"Oh, well. We ran off. Our herd was slowly falling apart and we decided to go our own way."
Morax nodded slowly, it was the first actual motion he had performed during this conversation.
"Pretty risky", he noted.

A hint of bright blonde hair suddenly appeared behind the reddish mare and the other silhouette detached itself from the one of her friend. An unusual face marking caught Morax' attention and he felt his muscles strain.
The mare didn't really dare looking at him, instead she held her head down, almost as if to show obsequiousness.
"You appear to know those lands", the red mare suddenly spoke up and Morax nodded again. "I do", was his short reply to her statement.
"Maybe we could accompany you?" This caught Morax completely off guard. A shiver ran through his body. "Why would you want that? You barely know me. I could be a threat by all means." He didn't mean to scare them off. Not intentionally at least. Morax just wasn't used to company anymore and knowing himself, he knew he wasn't exactly the best guardian either. When he had his clear moments - as he called them - he was well aware of his mental problem and how unpredictable he was. Sadly this clear moments never lasted for long, no matter how hard he tried. His brain was just too damaged to let him think clearly for a long amount of time anymore. And when he had a clear moment this realization hit him. So maybe it was good that he didn't have those moments too often then.

The mare chuckled and even the blonde mare gave him a quick, soft glance.
"Because, somehow, trust you."
Morax edgy expression dropped and a rather sad one took its place instead. "Maybe you shouldn't", he whispered very silently so that the mares wouldn't hear it. A sigh escaped his lips. Then he looked up at them again, this time with the hint of a smile on his face. "I guess I could appreciate some company."
The red mares face immediately brightened up and the blonde one let out a content snort.

"My name is Dejana by the way", she said. The blonde mare carefully lifted her head and with a calm, quiet voice she added: "And I'm Charoum."
"Morax." He returned.
"Beautiful name", Charoum mumbled which earned her an awkward chuckle of Morax before he cleared his throat again. His expression darkened and he turned his head, hinting them to follow him as he walked away. Dejana was quick to do as she was told and Charoum eventually followed behind them.
"However, if you annoy me", Morax started, "I'll be fast to leave you to your faith." He huffed as he continued to lead them through the plains, not even sure where to go himself. That was when he heard the sound of a river nearby...
